Open Letter to U.S. Senator Adam Schiff, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, U.S. Congressmember Judy Chu and Democratic candidates seeking our club endorsement:

The Democrats of Pasadena Foothills stands with the 92 percent of Democrats who oppose the brutal Israeli military campaign against Palestinians, funded by 17 billion of our American tax dollars.

There is no grey area on this issue. There is a clear right side. We choose the side of humanity.

Democratic leaders remain silent while people – children, women, journalists, doctors, aid workers – are systematically killed and starved due to Israel's ongoing indiscriminate military attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and bombing of infrastructure, hospitals, schools, and humanitarian aid sites and blockade of water, food and medical aid into Gaza. This silence exposes how deeply the pro-Israel lobby that supports the Netanyahu regime is entrenched in the Democratic Party. Until our Democratic leaders reject this lobby morally and financially, the Democratic Party will be beholden to the current Israeli government and not to the American people. With every passing day that the Democratic Party remains silent, genocide becomes normalized.

On August 10, 2025, our membership approved the resolution, “Silence on Israel’s Genocide on Palestinians Is an Existential Threat to the Democratic Party and Democracy” which is posted on our club homepage.

We will not seriously consider any candidate who does not reject the pro-Israel lobby that supports the current regime. Silence on this human rights issue taints all other issues that any Democratic candidate claims to champion. For example, a candidate cannot claim to be a true champion for healthcare for all while being complicit in the systemic starvation of children.

We will not be complicit to the genocide of the Palestinian people.

We will not enable Democratic leaders who are complicit to the genocide of the Palestinian people.

We believe the only way any Democratic organization can right the moral compass of the Democratic Party is by reforming its own endorsement process. Moving forward, our club will require candidates seeking our endorsement to disclose any campaign contributions and endorsements from pro-Israel lobby that supports the current regime and other interest groups. Our club will verify the accuracy of the disclosure and make it public on our website. We urge other Democratic Party entities to reform their endorsement process similarly.

We believe that without these fundamental reforms to the endorsement process across the Democratic Party locally, statewide, and nationwide, the Democratic Party as an institution of democracy will cease to be democratic, rendering our party a facade – a democratic party in name only, further alienating 92% of its base.

We have posted this letter on our website home page, have shared it with the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, the California Democratic Party, and the Democratic National Committee, and sent it as a press release to local and mainstream media.

We urge Democratic candidates and elected officials to reject and/or refund any campaign contributions from pro-Israel lobby that support the current regime in preparation for the 2026 election. We urge you to prioritize campaign financing through small dollar and individual donations so you can truly represent the American people. We see this as a clear pathway to winning back the trust of the American people and victory for the elections to come.
